Internship experience: IMagic TV

Marta Pérez has finished her third year of studies in Animation in the Art specialization. And during the 2021-2022 academic year she has done an internship at IMagic TV. Content and audiovisual services producer with more than 20 years of experience. Her work includes ‘Josep‘, the film by Aurel based on the life of the cartoonist Josep Bartolí; and the adventure series ‘Jimmy & The Magic Key‘.

MARTA, WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO JOIN IMAGIC TV?

The reason for my choice was that the production company works on 2D Animation series with a cartoon style, aimed at children’s audiences. And this is exactly the kind of projects I would like to collaborate on in the future.

WHAT HAS YOUR WORK CONSISTED OF?

During the internship I have been in charge of drawing backgrounds and applying the corrections indicated to me by my internship tutor, Joan Guardiet.

OF THE WORK YOU HAVE DONE, WOULD YOU HIGHLIGHT ANY IN PARTICULAR?

I really enjoyed drawing the scenery of an ornate theatre with a 3/4 perspective. In this project I had to be very careful with the decoration. In particular, the columns with statues on the sides.

HOW DO YOU RATE YOUR INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE?

It has been very positive in several ways. Firstly, because it has allowed me to practice more on the Animation backgrounds and concentrate on the raccord. Secondly, because it has allowed me to learn new techniques. And thirdly, because of the IMagic TV team. They are very nice people and they have helped me when I have had any doubts.

AFTER YOUR FIRST EXPERIENCE IN THE WORLD OF WORK, IN WHICH POSITION WOULD YOU LIKE TO WORK IN A FEW YEARS?

I would like to work as a character designer or storyboard artist for 2D cartoon style animation projects.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR TRAINING AT L’IDEM BARCELONA?

As useful but demanding studies that have made me work hard and improve a lot. Moreover, at school I have made very good friends and met great professionals.
