The short film ‘The Sun Thief’, made by the students of the 2021-22 class of the 2D/3D animation and Video Games major, has been awarded in the ‘Animation’s students award’ category within the 25th edition of the international short film and animation festival: Mecal BCN.
The event, which was held from June 29 to July 9, hosted around 300 short films that were screened in two spaces in the city: Museu Can Framis and l’Hotel Voraport.
Short film ‘The Sun Thief’
‘The sun thief’ is the final project carried out by the 4th year students of Animación of L’Idem Barcelona during 2022. A 2D Animation short film that tells the story of Una, a brave woman who defies the gods to save his village: a small town affected by water scarcity, drought and high temperatures. For 9 months, students from the 2D Animation and Art specializations have worked on this audiovisual production. In the process and under the supervision of the school’s teaching team, they have reproduced the organization and work workflow of a professional Animation studio. ‘The sun thief’ features original music created by the students of the Own master’s degree in composition of soundtracks and music for audiovisual media from the Superior School of Music of Catalonia (ESMUC).
