Idem Barcelona will be present at the 19th edition of ANIMAYO, the International Animation, VFX and Video Games Festival which will be held from May 8 to 11 in the CICCA space and the Guiniguada Theater in Gran Canaria.
More than 30 guests and top-level speakers at an international level will give 14 Master Classes, presentations, workshops, exhibitions and 12 hours of recruitment, portfolio review and professional networking sessions.
Among the participating production companies, this year will include leading companies in the sector such as: Sony Pictures Animation, Platige Image, Cinesite, >Polygon Pictures Inc, Plymptoons, Nørlum Studios, Skydance Animation, Atlantis Animation, Amuse, among others.
Masterclass: Bill Plymton
Idem Barcelona will sponsor the Master Class ¡Crea dibujos animados que sell, without selling! by Bill Plymton, New York director twice nominated for an Oscar® and pioneer in independent animation. Bill Plymton is known for his versatility as a director, producer, cartoonist, animator and composer of his own films. With more than 40 awards at festivals around the world and 30 nominations, among his most outstanding projects we find Guard Dog, How to Make Love to a Woman, Your Face or Slide, which was also premiered in the last edition of ANIMAYO. With this master class, Plymton will immerse us in his style and visual narrative, investigating all those tricks that have helped him become one of the most influential animators in the industry.
Online presentations with professors from L’Idem Barcelona
The professors of L’Idem Barcelona, like every year, are also present at the ANIMAYO Festival. This year, the 3D Generalista coordinator of the specialization in 2D/3D Animation and Videogames, Esteve Garriga, will teach the following workshops Character creation for video games and Topology applied and advanced rigging related to 3D Animation.

A first level festival
Animayo is the first and only festival in Spain awarded as a ‘Qualifying Festival’ by the Hollywood Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences for the Oscars in the category of best animated short film. The CICCA space and the Guiniguada Theater will host a new edition from May 8 to 11 with more than 30 top-level guests and star speakers who will participate in 14 Master Classes, 15 educational lectures, 4 workshops, 5 premieres and screenings, presentations and more than 12 hours of recruitment.
