Digital Design: “Dissenyem comerços” for La Prosperitat

News, Diseño

Our students Mariona Jiménez, Richard Billard, Rubén Oses, Tomàs Robres, Justine Bournet (higher studies in International Digital Designer ) and Lala Pashayeva (International Master in Graphic Design) have participated in the project “Dissenyem comerços”, aimed at the reactivation and promotion of local commerce to face the challenges of the present. Over the course of three months and together with professors Pablo García and Guido del Solar, they have worked together with the commercial area of the La Prosperitat neighborhood (Barcelona) to develop eleven proposals to promote and strengthen local commerce. And for this they have used design as a tool for social transformation.

“Dissenyem comerços” is a project promoted by the Regidoria de Turisme i Indústries creatives together with the Regidoria de Comerç, Mercats, Règim Interior i Hisenda with the collaboration of Disseny Hub Barcelona and Barcelona Activa. And it invites the educational centers of the creative industries and the commercial hubs of the city to co-create projects to promote local commerce in Barcelona.

Design, a tool for social transformation

The transformative power of design, visual arts, architecture or audiovisuals is undeniable. And in this project our students have used it to encourage local commerce in the La Prosperitat neighborhood (Nou Barris) and bring it closer to all the citizens of Barcelona. Together with the businesses attached to the La Rambleta commercial hub and for three months -from April to July 2021- they have developed eleven creative proposals.

Through interdisciplinary work and using design as a tool for social transformation, they have come into contact with the life of the neighborhood to develop a coherent and viable proposal. Through co-creation workshops, surveys and interviews, they have learned in depth the needs of businesses and neighborhood associations. Based on this information, they have developed eleven proposals aimed at promoting local commerce and improving the shopping experience in La Prosperitat stores.

How have our students lived the experience?

We have spoken with Mariona Jiménez and Rubén Oses, students in the 2nd year of Digital Design at our school, about their experience throughout this project. This has been his first contact with the professional world.

One of our priorities as a school is to ensure a successful job placement for our students. And the data proves it: 100% of our graduates find work in the Design sector at the end of their studies at L’Idem.
