The short film ‘Venus Flytrap’ travels the world with the Instituto Cervantes

Animation, News

Last year, the short film Venus Flytrap, prepared by the students of the 2016 promotion of the career of 2D/3D Animation and Videogames, participated for the first time in Mi Primer Festival, where children’s audiences filled the halls of Madrid and Barcelona to see the local talent of the productions of Spanish animators and filmmakers, with special attention to the talent of professionals who come from Barcelona. This year, Venus Flytrap is one of the short films that can be seen in cultural centers of the Cervantes Institute in different cities around the world.

The Cervantes Institute has recognized the work of Mi Primer Festival, a festival international cinema for a children’s audience between 2 and 12 years old, which has become a playful experience with an extensive program to enjoy, for the first time, a cinematographic event. For this reason, this Spanish cultural institution has opened a door to collaborate in promoting children’s cinema in the country.

For this reason, the Cervantes Institute will screen two sessions of short films from the Local Talent section (2022-2023) and the feature film Robot Dreamsby director Pablo Berger in its cultural centers around the world.

Venus Flytrap travels through eight international cities

The short film Venus Flytrap will tour the following cities during this year 2024: Bremen (June 15 and October 11), Algiers (June 29 ), Budapest (September 7), Beijing (July 2 and 4), Fez, Frankfurt, Marrakech and Oran.

This initiative of the Cervantes Institute aims to continue and carry out a circuit through different countries with the Local Talent session of the 2024 edition in the Instituto Cervantes centers during the year 2025.
