Antonio Santamaría, honoured by the Spanish Film Academy

Animation

On Monday, November 22, Antonio Santamaría, professor at L’Idem Barcelona, will become the first storyboard artist to be honored by the Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences of Spain. This distinction recognizes the trajectory of professionals in the service of cinematography who, as they are not heads of department, cannot access the Goyas or the rest of the Academy Awards. The 2021 Professionals tribute ceremony is held a week before the names of the nominees for the 36th edition of the Goya Awards are announced.
” Deep down it is a recognition that goes beyond the personal”, Santamaría declared, “it has to do with my profession”. For our professor, with this award the Academy recognizes “the importance of the storyboard in any film production and that fills me more than the fact of seeing my name inscribed on that plaque.”

Along with Santamaria, the Academy will recognize races five more professionals: Lourdes Navarro, script; costume dyer María Calderón; the head of electrical Ricardo Aramburu; Tomás Rosón, an expert lawyer in intellectual property; and the digital effects composer Sonsoles Aranguen.
